Topological Classification of Insulators
Insulators that respect certain symmetry constraints exhibit topological phases that are robust against perturbation. In this talk, I will explain the mathematical setting of insulators and show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the topological phases of a gapped, non-interacting 1D system and the one-dimensional column of the Kitaev periodic table.
