Title:  Introduction to some geometric flows

Abstract:

This presentation will be an introduction to some famous geometric flows (mean curvature flow, inverse mean curvature flow, Ricci flow). A geometric flow on a curve or a surface for instance is a way to deform it until hopefully it reaches a "canonical" shape. It can be thought of as a geometric heat equation in the sense that at each point the deformation is at all time proportional to the curvature of the object. For each flow I will present some representative results, and I will briefly mention links to image processing and shape analysis
